The danger of sleeping too much!

Introduction
In a conversation when asked on what is sleeping? It can be easily undermined as a state of inactivity of both the body and the mind in a typical posture of lying down with eyes closed. Though the actuality of it very varying, in fact it's the exact opposite, the brain is ascertained to be more active or stable than when awake, though there are some curbing changes in physiological activity like body temperature, breathing pattern etc. In a whole front sleep is a body and mind state that benefits in better functioning and feeling refreshed, but what if such utility is overindulged, does it result in better outcome or not?

Though sleep is a benefits both physically and mentally, but overdoing something beneficial might infact result on a contrary. In fact oversleeping can be a medical disorder termed as hypersomnia.
A condition of excessive sleepiness is similar to its counterpart ' insomnia', both are derived or delivered from overlapping factors such as mental health issue like anxiety, stress, depression etc.
An approximation of 40 percent or more adults under 30 suffer from the issue of hypersomnia due to depression, amongst which women are more likely to  experience such condition.
Hypersomnia is a sleep difficulty of abnormal sleep pattern that may interfere with both physical-mental as well as emotional and functional activities. Hypersomnia is infact, now stated to be a concurring condition alongside insomnia which is present in less than one third of people diagnosed with anxiety and depression.
Hypersomnia maybe at times due to factors like medical conditions, medication, substance use disorder, tiredness, sleep depravation and so on, when no such cause is present, it is a condition called idiopathic hypersomnia, a condition of excessive sleeping in idiopathic manner meaning without a known cause.
It can also be considered as a symptoms for medical conditions like thyroid, heart disease, sleep apnea etc.
Hypersomnia may result to various complications that hinder day to day aspects of life like headaches, obesity, diabetes and back pain.
Some measures to aid in oversleeping conditions-
The first and foremost option is to approach a doctor as soon as such conditions comes under notice, one should also track the changes in the amount of time sleeping and level of tiredness, it may help in identifying the underlying causes.
Keeping a limit on consumption over likes of substance such as alcohol, as it can negatively effect the sleep-wake rythm, while decreasing sleep quality.
Adhering to a sleeping schedule and maintain consistency over it, is helpful!
Lastly one should improve lifestyle habits such as taking measures to decrease intake of caffeine, participation in health benefitting activities.

Conclusion

The state of sleeping is helpful and beneficial to both body and mind, but such benefits are only limited to state of balance, whereas oversleeping can play a detrimental role as both a symptom and a cause. It is a condition that is medically termed as hypersomnia meaning excessive amount of sleeping that as a condition can impede daily common tasks. Hypersomnia has a lot of overlapping cause and effect alike it's counterpart insomnia, both now is in fact a concurrent condition diagnosed in anxiety and depression. Hypersomnia may occur due to other reasons like thyroid,heart disease, sleep apnea and such medical conditions. There are many outturn like headaches, obesity, diabetes and back pain. It can improve by various measures like taking medical help, limiting and changing to a healthy lifestyle.
