Electrolyte disorders or imbalances

Electrolytes in the body enable the proper functioning of the muscles, heart, nerves, and brain. If there is an imbalance or altered level of electrolytes such as calcium, sodium, potassium, and magnesium can result in weakness.

Some of the instances of electrolyte disorders include hypokalemia or hyperkalemic periodic paralysis. The causes of such imbalance are loss of fluids due to diarrhea, vomiting and sweating, poor diet, and antibiotics.

Kidney disease

If you feel weak and sluggish all the time, it may be due to kidney malfunction or disease.

If the kidney does not function properly, it may result in metabolic waste products, like creatinine, to build up in the muscles. This build-up can lead to twitching and weakness in the body.

Sleep disorders

People who are suffering from sleep disorders like insomnia and narcolepsy can experience daytime weakness and fatigue.
